Promotional Video - Ammolite&Jade

This promotional video was a rush project for the company I worked for. My supervisor discussed the possibility of creating a short, high-quality ammolite jewelry video for next year. I mentioned that I had experience making short films and had taken hundreds of professional product photos for the company. Feeling confident in my abilities, I believed I could create a video that rivaled our competitor's work at the time. I was given only 72 hours to shoot and edit the video.

Showcasing the iridescent color of ammolite in images or videos has always been a challenge because the color changes with perspective. Smooth perspective changes require specific equipment for different types of shots. I determined that trying new equipment within such a short timeframe was too risky.

Through experimentation, I eventually learned that it's not the camera position that reveals the iridescence, but the relative position of the camera and the lights. This means that moving the lights essentially achieves the same effect as moving the camera. After some trial and error, I created a video based on this technique. This is the final result.

This video was shot on a Canon T4i and edited with Adobe After Effect/ Adobe Premiere Pro.
